This Outing has no activities or volunteer stream leaders. It is fishing on your own in solitude. Please research the streams, location and terrain if interested in attending. There is no cellular service, roads may be unpaved and there is no potable water. This is an opportunity to discover new areas and fish in tranquility. Travel may require a vehicle suited for unpaved roads. Depending on the group size and fire restrictions in place, there may be a campfire each night to share fishing stories. This trip is aimed for the adventure seeker. SPFF has not done an Outing at this location and is more geared for scouting and future program development.

Troy Meadow Campground is a remote camping destination featuring forested terrain with a mix of pine and fir trees located just off Sherman Pass Road in the Sequoia National Forest near Domeland Wilderness Area. The campground is 10 miles west of Kennedy Meadows (in Inyo National Forest, not Sonora Pass) and 33 winding miles northwest of Johnsondale. Fish great little streams such as Salmon Creek, Trout Creek, Jackass Creek, Fish Creek, and Corral Creek. Troy Meadow Campground has 73 campsites which can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. Campers are asked to pack out their trash.

Temperatures range from 30°F in winter to 80°F in summer. No reservations available. First come, first served. Fee is $17 a night and managed by the
Kern River Ranger District, 760-376-3781.
