2026 GSO "Great Summer Outing" EVENT
The Great Summer Outing (Getting Started Outing) is a fantastic event designed especially to help beginning fly fishers to get started fly fishing the Eastern Sierra. But even experienced anglers can join in the fun. The Eastern Sierra is known for their exceptional trout fishing, and several creeks and lakes are within a short drive from mammoth Lakes.

SUNDAY, July 19
- OVERVIEW: Register for those events that interest you, active Members will get first choice for the activities. Member guests are welcomed to join but priority will be given for active members. Keep checking the Calendar as activities may get added after Registration opens. Each participant registered for the GSO must have a signed liability waiver on file. There are no refunds for activities that have associated fees such as professional guides and BBQ.
- LODGING:
If you’re planning to stay in the Mammoth Lakes area, you want to to set up a comfortable launching pad for your epic fly fishing adventures in the Eastern Sierra. Mammoth Lakes offers accommodations to fit every group and budget, from campsites, RV parks, Inns, motels, resorts, and condominiums.
- OUTINGS
Review the activities and check those that you want to do.
Make sure that your selected activities don't overlap as it's rather difficult to attend Entomology activity on Convict Creek while casting dry flies on Big Springs.
- Note that a few are specifically encouraging beginners.
- Others are planned for more advanced anglers.
- Many are open to all. You may only select 1-2 activity per day that does not overlap.
- You do not need to sign up for any activities if you want to just fish your favorite Sierra streams with your friends.

- Our trip leaders are volunteers.
- None are paid, certified, or licensed. They volunteer their time and knowledge purely for the love of our sport and their genuine desire to help our members and guests enjoy fly fishing.
- They are friends helping friends.
- Please contact your Trip Leader if you have any questions about your activity, contact info is provided on the website. Please do not be late and notify your leader. If you have to cancel the last minute, that is alright, as a courtesy to everyone please notify trip leader.
